Erik Šille (1978, Rožňava) is an established artist of the middle generation and a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. In his work he uses motifs taken from pop culture, distinctive paints a "nice" surface image combined with Criticaluntil existentially dark content. He exhibits continuously at home and abroad, is represented in public and private collections, and has received several awards for his work.
New exhibition  Sad generation with  nice pictures draws you into the world of the author's manifested visions. This time (quite unintentionally, in line with the carnival season) Šille has "unbound" and prepared an installation that oscillates on the edge of kitsch aesthetics in the best tradition of pop art. Enchanting senses, but also blunt receptivity. In addition to his latest paintings, the artist will also present drawings and objects at the exhibition, so that the viewers will be surrounded by a sculptural and grotesque "model of the world".
Šille comments on specifically Slovak, but also more universal social realities - be it the status of women, the plundering of the planet, or nationalism. Invites take a look at a condensed visual report about the companywhich, although it abounds in pretty pictures, is losing ground.
The exhibition is curated by Alexandra Tamásová, supported by public funds from the Art Support Fund.
